Caregivers and Providers

Loved ones of clients/consumers, service providers, support staff, and other caregivers play an essential role in providing care for those who have experienced trauma. This section discusses some of the tools to provide this care in a trauma informed way such as how to do trauma assessments and evidence based and best practice trauma specific interventions.  Additionally, caregivers and providers have often experienced their own trauma or may experience vicarious trauma or compassion fatigue in the work they do.  This section shares self-care tips that local Alameda County providers have found useful in coping with and healing from the traumas they have witnessed and/or experienced.
